National Trust’s Brownsea Island. Famous for red squirrels, wildlife and most of all Robert Baden-Powell, who founded the first ever Scout group on the site.
Brownsea Island needed to generate more interest in a more youthful market. The first of a series of projects we worked on for The National Trust, we created a printed guide aimed at this newer, younger audience.
Working with a focus group we set out to understand what 11-16 year olds wanted out of a guide. Indepth research into the site then led us to Robert Baden-Powell, founding the first Scout group there. Mixing the familiar language of lanyards (festivals) with a hands-on approach of the scouts, we delivered something that was functional as well as interactive and educational.
